Filmmaker George Lucas wants to send a large portion of the proceeds from the sale of his production company Lucasfilm a charitable foundation. This was confirmed by a spokesman for Lucasfilm U.S. industry magazine The Hollywood Reporter (THR).

Lucas intends, once the transaction is completed, to donate a large portion of the proceeds for philanthropic purposes, said the spokesman. The money should benefit a foundation that einsetze for education. Lucas had announced in 2010 to devote "the majority of my wealth to improving education."
Which the Foundation will be available, according to THR fixed yet. Lucas in 1991 set up a foundation, the George Lucas Educational Foundation (GLEF), which is dedicated to, among other things the improvement of school education. Lucas has his company, which is famous with the movie series Star Wars and Indiana Jones, just sold for 4.05 billion U.S. dollars at the media conglomerate Disney. The company had only heard Lucas and had virtually no debt, writes THR.
Disney has already announced plans to continue the Star Wars series: 2015, episode 7 in theaters. An eighth and a ninth part will follow, once every two years.
